Abstract (EN)
Violence discussed on a daily basis is an issue of society's health and should be considered as an abuse of human rights. The violence which exists in every community emerges in different ways and different groups. One of the groups who experiences violence in their daily lives are transgender individuals. Transgender individuals are exposed to physical violence and discrimination at home, at school, on the street or in business. At this study, the target is to put forward the physical violence which the trans individuals are exposed to as well as the risk factors leading them to be exposed to this sort of violence. Socioeconomic circumstsances of the victims, the specifications and motivations of the ones who are engaged in violence, the fields in which violence is observed and how the victims evaluated the attitudes in these fields are surveyed throughout this study. 60 people who reported themselves as trans individuals participated in this study. At the end of the study it is observed that socioeconomic circumstances such as age, educational and income levels and family structure are significantly in connection with the exposure to violence. It has been found that violence users are mostly public officers and customers. Looking at the respondents' evaluation of agressors' motivations, hatred, transphobia, and moralism stand out. In trans individuals who are exposed to physical violence, the prominent risk factors were family and occupation. Family structure, relationship and the industry that occupation is associated with have been found to be significantly related to exposure to violence.
