Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine how existential anxieties are addressed within the framework of transpersonal psychology and how they relate to individuals' levels of transpersonal awareness. In the study, four fundamental existential anxieties, namely death anxiety, loneliness anxiety, meaninglessness anxiety, and freedom anxiety, are examined, and their associations with the subdimensions of transpersonal psychology are evaluated. The main research question of the study is stated as follows: "How do existential anxieties affect the acquisition of transpersonal awareness?" A quantitative research design was employed, and data were collected using standardized psychological measurement tools. The Existential Anxiety Scale was used to assess participants' levels of existential anxiety, the Spiritual Transcendence Scale was administered to determine levels of transpersonal awareness, and the Spiritual Well Being Scale was applied to evaluate individuals' spiritual well being. The collected data were analyzed through correlation and regression analyses. The findings reveal that existential anxieties demonstrate significant relationships with specific dimensions of transpersonal psychology. Death anxiety is associated with universality, loneliness anxiety with connectedness, freedom anxiety with transcendence and religious satisfaction, and meaninglessness anxiety with harmony with nature and anomie. These results indicate that transpersonal experiences may provide individuals with a transformative potential in coping with existential anxieties. It is concluded that the study contributes to the literature by addressing the relationship between existential psychology and transpersonal psychology at both conceptual and empirical levels. Furthermore, the findings suggest that transpersonal approaches play a central role in meaning making processes and in the development of transpersonal awareness among individuals.
