Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of Tributyltin (TBT) which is used for antifouling material for the protection of ship hull?s on survival and sex ratios, various growth and morphological characteristics on guppies (Poecilia reticulata) were investigated. Low TBT concentration (25 ng ? Group D) and high TBT concentrations (50 ng ? Group E and 150 ng ? Group F) were used on fries and gravid females for 11 days after parturitions and several days starting from the 16th day after first parturition until second parturition, respectively. After using different TBT concentration treatments on fry guppies, maximum and minimum survival rates were %100±0.00 in group D, %83.33±16.67 in group E, %100±0.00 in group F and %53.67±6.06 in group D, %54.33±15.07 in group E, %48.66±5.70 in group F in 11th and 60th days, respectively. Guppy fries couldn?t be produced because adult guppies died before giving birth or after giving birth to stillborne fries. Therefore the effect of TBT treatments on survival rate couldn?t be determined. On the 60th day of the experiment, female ratio was %29.26 in group D, %12.50 in group E and %12.82 ng in group F while male ratio was %70.74 in group D, %87.50 in group E and %87.18 ng in group F.After using different TBT concentrations on fry guppies, maximum average weight was 0.30±0.04 g in group D and minimum average weights were 0.16±0.01g in group E and 0.15±0.05 g in group F. Generally growth performance of the group fed with 25 ng TBT suplemented diet was beter than the group fed with 50 ng and 150 ng TBT suplemented diet.In this experiment, any deformation was observed on fry guppies after TBT treatments. However, low and high TBT treatments resulted in tapering of the tails and curved vertebras in adult guppies.
