Abstract (EN)
When the literature is examined, it is seen that studies on thyrocervical trunk are mostly morphological evaluations. For this reason, in our study, we aimed to reveal the morphology and morphometry of the thyrocervical trunk in detail, as well as the clinical relationships of the results obtained. This study was carried out on 20 fixed cadavers in the Department of Anatomy of Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty. When we examined morphologically, 10 different types (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2 types) of the thyrocervical trunk and its branches were seen. Descriptive statistics were applied to the measured morphometric data. The data obtained were analyzed according to both right and left side and gender. On the right side, a statistically significant difference was observed in the comparison of the vertical distance of the origin place of the thyrocervical trunk to the vertical axis passing through the jugular notch of sternum by gender (p = 0.030). For other morphometric values, there was no significant difference between sides and genders. The fact that the thyrocervical trunk and its branches are used in flap applications in surgery or guiding in interventional radiological applications show that the morphological and morphometric information of the thyrocervical trunk is highly needed in the field of clinical medicine. Key Words: Thyrocervical trunk, subclavian artery, morphometry, morphology, cadaver
