Özet (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of betanin supplementation on antioxidant parameters, lactate levels and muscle damage enzymes in rats exercising exhaustion. The study was carried out on 24 male adult Sprague-Dawley rats. The rats were divided into 3 different groups, a swimming-type exhaustion exercise model was applied, and different doses of betanin were given. To determine the effect of betanin supplementation, lactate, CK, AST, ALT, LDH, SOD, CAT, MDA, eNOS and swimming times were analyzed. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to determine the differences between the groups. The results of the variance analysis found to be statistically significant, the Least Significant Difference (LSD) was used to compare the group averages. Kruskal-Wallis analysis was applied to determine the differences between the groups. Kruskal-Wallis analysis, which is statistically significant, used Games-Howell test to compare group averages. There was no statistically significant difference in lactate, AST, ALT, LDH, SOD, CAT, MDA and eNOS values between the groups. There were statistically significant differences in swimming times and CK values. As a result, betanin supplementation reduces oxidative stress and improves sportive performance.
