Abstract (EN)

In economics, people try to meet their needs by using their limited resources. However, they have been seen as a rational vibrant aiming to maximize the level of comfort from past till now. In mainstream economic theories, they have always been defined as a machine who takes rational decisions. But, it is seen that in daily life, human being is affected by factors such as environmental, social and psychological factors and does not display rational movements. According to the Behavioral Economics, which is in the literature as a sub-branch of the science of economics, individuals take different decisions from each other even under the same conditions and some of them show irrational movements. In this thesis, explained the behavioral economics and the historical process in economics. At the same time, consumption and consumer behaviors and the factors affecting consumer behavior are defined in the context of behavioral economics. As a result of the statistical analysis of the data obtained from the survey conducted by Batman University students, it was determined that the behaviors of the consumers were irrational.
