The impact of emotional intelligence on ethical behavior

Nowadays, the widespread use of cars with internal combustion engine technology causes many environmental problems such as air pollution and global warming. In order to eliminate these problems, many countries, especially Europeans, have imposed serious restrictions and bans on the automotive industry on exhaust emission rates. As a result of these political and legal pressures, the automotive sector has tended to electric and hybrid cars. This study was conducted to measure the effect of consumer identity on attitudes and intentions of electric car adoption. The data of the research were collected by questionnaire from 405 people with driving licenses in Turkey. The data were analyzed with the SPSS. In the analysis of the data, first of all, descriptive statistics were given. In addition, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyzes were used to test the reliability and validity of the model. Also, structural equation modeling was used to test the structural validity of the proposed model. According to the findings of the research, consumers' green self-identities positively and significantly affect the environmental consequences of automobile use, their green moral responsibilities (moral obligations in environment), and their intention to adopt eco-friendly electric cars. Moreover, the environmental consequences of automobile use and green moral responsibilities also seem to affect the attitude positively and significantly towards the adoption of eco-friendly electric cars. As a result of the research, it was determined that the attitude towards the adoption of eco-friendly electric cars positively and significantly affects the intention to adopt eco-friendly electric cars.
