Bronze age miner settlement Derekutugun's animal-based economy

The settlement Derekutugun is located in the county of Bayat in Çorum province. In 2011,the first systematic excavated works have started with the consultancy of Prof. Dr. Unsal YALCIN and the cooperation of Çorum Archeological Museum. At the end of the 2017 excavation season, the excavation works of Miner Settlement have been terminated. According to the outcome of excavations and C-14 dating, it has been determined that the settlement is settled from B.C four thousand to The Roman period. Comprehending food habits of miner people of Derekutugun which is a miner town and reveal the similarities and differences by comparing this with other periodical places underlie the work. In parallel with this purpose, Derekutugun Miner Settlement's ITC III and belong to Transitional Period (Period of Assyrian Commerce Colonies) from the ITC III to OTC III, 4426 number faunal ruins have been examinated and assessed. Outcome of examination of faunal ruins, domestic and wild species whic lived in this settlement have been determined. In accordance with stated domestic species, communities' ,who lived in ITC III Period,food habits and manufacture economies have been examinated. The wild species identified and the herd-hunting strategies of Derekutugun Miner Settlement society and their contriburion to the red meat economy were investigated. At the same time based on determined domestic species informations have been obtained about the ancient nature of settlement. It has been observed that miner people meet their red meat need mostly from domestic fauna species as a result of outcomes of mammal fauna ruin obtained from Derekutugun Miner Settlement both periodical comparing in itself and territorial comparing.
