Consciousness level at the relations between tourism and environment: An Application study at Kundu-Antalya region

iABSTRACTNowadays, the countries, which are aware of the fact that sustainable development canonly be achieved by a healthy, efficient environment and in harmony with nature, began toconsider the damages given to the environment by the development studies and to improvepolicies in this respect.Environment is the basic concept that sustains the effective growth in tourism and is anelement attracting the tourists. As the main source of tourism, natural resources are followedby the historical and cultural wealths. Sustainable development and continuance of theresources are subject to their use in accordance with the protective measures.Aim of this study is surveying the consciousness degrees linked with tourism andenvironment of employers in the under, middle and top level management positions and ofguests from various countries at four touristic plants operating in the Kundu region as a newtourism face of Antalya and revealing the differences on the consciousness levels. To achievethis purpose, one questionnaire form for employers and one each questionnaire form in fourdifferent languages for the hotel guests have been prepared and applied.After the evaluation of the analyse results, the universality of the tourism andenvironment consciousness is again appeared. The fact that the individuals work in differentmanagement positions and gain the cultures of different countries does not cause a disparityon the thoughts over tourism and environment. This case is a statement explaining that theglobal effects of environmental problems threating the world on the tourism sector increasesthe consciousness level of people.
