Abstract (EN)

Mushroom Management is an approach which has especially recently been mentioned in the literature. In the management literature, this approach means that managers generally do not want to be questioned and criticized by employees, and keep the knowledge and experience in a single center. Just like it is the case in natural mushroom cultivation, the Mushroom Management Approach is likened to harvesting by providing enough heat and air after leaving mushrooms in a dark environment. In this context, managers are expected to work without sharing important information and experience by making their subordinates feel that they are considered important. In brief, the managers who adopt the mushroom management approach do not give their employees the opportunity to question and comment on information related to production and create new ideas. This management approach has come to the agenda in areas like education, health and tourism in recent years. In this respect, it must be considered that there is the possibility of fulfilling the responsibilities as a result of the perception of organizational commitment of the employees, as well as the possibility of not fulfilling these responsibilities in the enterprise in case the Mushroom Management Approach is applied. In this study, the purpose is aimed to determine whether the Mushroom Management Approach, which is considered to be applied to individuals who work in tourism enterprises, has an effect on organizational commitment or not. In this respect, questionnaires were applied to a total of 353 employees who worked at hotels. The effect of the organizational commitment of the participants and Mushroom Management Approach was determined with the Regression Analysis. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the perceptions of organizational commitment of the employees and Mushroom Management Approach were at moderate levels. According to the results of the Regression Analysis that was applied to determine the effect of Mushroom Management Approach on organizational commitment in the study, it was determined that there was a low level effect among the variables in question. It is considered that the study has a unique side because it is a new study in the literature, a similar study has not been conducted before especially in the tourism sector, and it will be an important source for future studies and for the literature.
