The effect of tourism sector on economic growth: The case of Azerbaijan

The tourism sector is one of the sectors that contribute to the economic development of countries. For this purpose, some policies/strategies such as using the resources of the countries, revitalizing tourism activities, establishing facilities, increasing the types of tourism, developing and making studies to the extent that it can be used, carry tourism to a position that can contribute to economic growth. For this reason, the main function of the correctness and functioning of the policies is taken into account as it is the factor that can affect economic growth at the same rate. Within the scope of the research, improving tourism activity and related practices in the effect of the tourism sector on economic growth through Azerbaijan were examined. Accordingly, it can be said that the policies gain a function by adhering to the types of tourism. The processes should be improved based on the differences such as health, holiday, beach, mountaineering and highland tourism among the tourism types that can be specified as the tourism potential of Azerbaijan. In other words, the potential for developments in tourism activities should be according to tourism profiles. Today, although this expansion and improvement in tourism activities is expressed for Azerbaijan, it can be stated that it has not yet reached the desired level. The studies carried out in this direction and the fact that Azerbaijan's post-independence policies have not yet reached the desired level are preparing the environment for the resources in the country to not be sufficient. For this purpose, based on the results of the research, an interpretation of increasing remedial studies can be developed for Azerbaijan within the scope of these issues.
