Security in tourism and tourism police

Today, security and tourism safety are important issues in destination selection. The duty of ensuring security in tourism destinations is carried out by the tourism police. The aim of this study is to examine the place and importance of security and tourism police in tourism and to develop a digital application for tourism police. In order to measure the effectiveness of the developed application, data was collected from local and foreign visitors and personnel in the Security Organization using the interview method, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The in-house interview was conducted with 14 people in Osmaniye, and the interviews with visitors were conducted with 28 people in Antalya, Alanya, and Adana. The study is important in terms of bringing the tourism police, which is passive in some regions, back to the agenda, reviving it and trying to regain its functionality with digital tools. It is also thought that the study will contribute to the literature in terms of bringing a different perspective to security and tourism police in tourism, and tourist security with new generation technologies. It has been concluded that the application developed in the study can be used as a functional and innovative digital tool and should be activated.
