The place of women In Turkish Eurasianism

Through this academic study, the orientation and development of Turkish Eurasianism to this region is explored in line with identity politics and the position of women which used to play a significant role in Turkish culture. In addition to that, Turkish Eurasianism and its dialogue with feminism is discussed: The potential contribution of feminism to Turkish Eurasianism is debated. Trully, with the end of the Cold War, Eurasianism has started to come into prominence in international arena and became a new alternative policy. Turkey wasn't apart from the context: Political, cultural and economic cooperations with other Turkish states in Eurasia was evaluated under the name of "Turkish Eurasianism". The aim of this study is to discuss this "Turkish Eurasianism" policy and its notion. This is not without a reason: As an alternative to "Russian Eurasianism", "Turkish Eurasianism" should not fall into distortions through time and therefore, disappear. Therefore, the notion of Turkish Eurasianism is considered from various aspects. In terms of methodology, I used scanning model as a working method. Data was obtained from academic studies and reports in different languages -Turkish, English, French-. Based on literature review, it has been observed that Turkish Eurasianism was narrowing day by day its definition geographically, politically and last but not least, as expectation. However, the continuity of any ideology can not be provided if its own deficiencies are not recognized and its scope is not expanded.Therefore, this thesis analysis the opportunity for elaborating Turkish Eurasianism as an idea thanks to the experience of feminism, stayed long time in the margins of a hegemonic patriarchal world. Feminism was a weak stream of thought before... But later, it gained universalism and massive support. I believe that Turkish Eurasianism can gain a stronger place in society by extending as far as possible its own scope, starting by including women's problems and their search for rights to itself.
