Abstract (EN)

Teachers? Views on the Application of the Activities in Turkish Literature Textbooks: The Case of TrabzonThe aim of this study was to define Turkish language and literature teachers? opinions on the application of activities in Turkish literature textbooks geared towards making students participate in active learning.This study is a qualitative research and survey method was carried out. For this study 2010-2011 education year 36 randomly chosen Turkish language and literature teachers from 17 different high schools in the province of Trabzon were interviewed. The study data was analyzed using the content analysis method.According to the results of this study, Turkish language and literature teachers generally approve the new Turkish Literature Teaching Programme; however, due to the fact that the class environment as stated by the programme was unobtainable, they think that the programme is not applicable. The teachers also stated that they did not approve of the type, wording and contents of the activities and found them to be insufficient; therefore, they generally do not use the activities.In the conclusion, it was recommended, that the teachers are needed to be given sufficient information regarding the programme and application of the activities and that the Turkish Literature Lesson Teaching Programme, textbooks and the activities in the books should be reviewed by paying attention to the students? needs and the schools? physical and technical conditions.Key Words: Turkish Literature Lesson Teaching Programme, Turkish Literature Textbooks and Activities, Activity Based Learning.
