Functional analysis of punisment and rewards in Turkish legends

Legends are the products of the imagination and intelligence of mankind and legends are the cultural values that influence society's human relations and social life. People guide people in society by expressing their values, customs, feelings, thoughts and behavior that they cannot express clearly with the help of legends. Legends are one of the most important tools of the culture for the survival of their tradition-customs, and cultural transmission to future generations. They reflect the order and living characteristics of the society. In order to protect the order among people, there are certain penalties and wages which are accepted in society and come from the past day by day. Thus, sanctions are imposed on people on a particular topic or event. The punishments and the rewards which the human beings accept have been the subject of legend. The function of the punishment and the rewards which are part of the life of the human being in the Turkish legends is dealt with in our work. With this study, the function of punishment and rewards in Turkish legends has been determined. It has been seen that these constitute an instrument for improving social life. In our work, the functional dimensions of the punishments and rewards in Azeri, Tatar, Uyghur, Uzbek, Bashkir, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Altay, Kazak, Yakut, Karakalpak and Anatolian myths have been determined. When we examine Turkish legends, it is also seen that legends bear traditions and moral values. In the legacies, it appears that people's proper behavior is rewarded and their inappropriate behavior is punished. In addition, the perspective of the Turkish societies against the events and situations in their own order and experience has been revealed.
