Abstract (EN)
The Türk Lügati is a four-volume work prepared by Hüseyin Kazım Kadri with an understanding of linguistic unity, presented in an etymological and comparative manner. Due to this approach, the work serves as a dictionary for not only the Turkish language used in Turkey but also for various dialects and jargons, such as Uighur, Chagatai, Kazan, Azerbaijani, Koybal, Yakut, Altai, Chuvash, and Kyrgyz, alongside Turkish, Arabic, Persian, French, Italian, Greek, Latin, and English. These words borrowed from languages, dialects, and jargons are supported by literary references, with at least one, and sometimes several, examples provided for each word. Prior research has been conducted on literary works contained within the Türk Lügati, as well as studies on transcribing it into the Latin alphabet. These studies further emphasize the significance of the Türk Lügati. Our aim in examining this work is to highlight once again the richness of the Türk Lügati, which encompasses words from multiple languages and supports them with literary texts. Our study consists of an introduction (covering the subject, purpose, method...), information about Hüseyin Kazım Kadri's life, works, and general information about the Türk Lügati, an analysis of sound changes and spelling differences that occurred in the transfer of verses from Kutadgu Bilig to the Türk Lügati, the translated written text, article headings, and an index of references. In the introduction section, after providing information about the purpose of the study and the method used in turning the text into a translated form, the first section gives an overview of Hüseyin Kazım Kadri's life, works, and the Türk Lügati. In the second section, sound changes and spelling differences are examined based on differences found in the original versions of verses from Kutadgu Bilig within the designated page range. The third section provides the translation of the designated page range from Arabic script to Latin script. The fourth section includes alphabetical indexes in both Latin and Arabic scripts and an index of references. The conclusion summarizes the findings obtained from the analysis. Keywords: Hüseyin Kazım Kadri, Türk Lügati, Kutadgu Bilig, Linguistic Analysis.
