Examination of proverbs in Türk Lügati in terms of theme (Volume 3)

In this study named "Examination of Proverbs in Türk Lügati in Terms of Theme (Volume 3)", the proverbs located in the third volume of the dictionary named Türk Lügati: Türk Dillerinin İştikakî ve Edebî Lügatleri written by Hüseyin Kazım Kadri were determined. Similarities and differences of the stated 772 proverbs have been determined and their classification was made according to their subjects. In the dictionary besides Ottoman Turkish, the words existing in Azerbaijan, Kazan, Uyghur, Chagatai, Altai, Yakut, Chuvash Turkish are included as lexical entries. The author has included proverbs, idioms and riddles in the lexical items which are under the name of "darbımesel" subtitle. In this study, proverbs have been presented by seperating them from the other stereotypes. In order to determine the current equivalents of the proverbs in the Türk Lügati, it has been benefitted from the proverb books which have been prepared about the proverbs in the recent history. Hereby, the proverbs in the dictionary have been compared to modern Turkish and the classification of the proverbs has been practiced.
