Abstract (EN)

Since the first appearance of abstract painting, artists have reflected their inner worlds on canvas. Previously, the artists who gave realistic works later took the first steps of abstract art by reflecting their inner worlds as they were. Turkey in the picture political, economic and social conditions due to the late start and develop in this direction. Abstract art in Turkey's understanding and adoption process appears as a painful process. But our artists have proven they can do abstract art in Turkey. In the early 1940s, paintings were made in abstract understanding. Our artists who made social realistic paintings in the early 1950s make paintings in abstract geometric conception. Another reason for their drawing in this sense is that our artists who study abroad can be shown to be influenced by the painters in the workshops they work with. Geometric non-figurative painting concept, which is included in Turkish Painting, is still existing and developing with our new artists.
