Abstract (EN)

This thesis evaluates the usage of "WHquestions" in Turkish lessons, the text in Turkish main course boks and the importance of the usage of "WH questions" in both classrooms and the coursebooks. In this respect, the fiction texts located in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th gradeTurkishcoursebookswhichareclassifiedaccordingtotheirgenresarecategorized in terms of their cognitive levels. In this research, a qualitative research method is used for the documentation analysis andscanning. The obtained results Show that the specified coursebooks prepared by Turkish Ministery of Education for the secondary school repeats themselves in terms of theusage of "WH questions".Also, "WH questions" are not sufficient in terms of improving students' cognitive process according to their age range. This study provides contribution to the fiction texts in Turkish coursebooks and workbooks prepared by the TurkishMinistery of Education for the secondary school level in terms of regulating "WH questions" properly.
