Özet (EN)

There is a need for supplementary reading books to support the language learning process in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. For this reason, the aim of the study is to adapt the tales selected from the work "Turkish Tales" by Naki Tezel, one of the masters of the Turkish fairy tale tradition, in accordance with the themes and achievements, for B1 level learners within the framework of certain criteria. In addition, the examples of activities created to cover comprehension and telling skills for each tale are included in the appendices. In the study, which was shaped by qualitative document analysis, the adaptation process was based on the Turkish Maarif Foundation Program for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, which is the first program approved by the Board of Education in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, and the language structures and achievements in this program. In addition, the criteria compiled by Konyar and Mercan (2021) were taken into account in the adaptation stage of the tales, and the plot, heroes and titles of the tales were not interfered with. In the conclusion part of the thesis, suggestions were made about the features that should be considered in the simplification phase in order to guide the people who will work in this field.
