Attitudes and behaviours of Turkish language teachers towards school dictionary usage

The aim of this dissertation is to investigate the attitudies and behaviours of Turkish language teachers towards school dictionary usage. First part of the study includes definition and classification of dictionaries and history of Turkish lexicography. Also, second part explains the essential fetures of school dictionaries and where they stand within the classification. In accordance with the prupose of this dissertation, questionnaries have been designed to gather data. The data has been obtained from all Turkish language teachers (80) working in primary schools within the urban location in Afyonkarahisar. Frequencies, t-test and crosstabs have been applied analysing the data. It has been found out that Turkish language teachers do not exhibit model behaviors in utilizing school dictionary even thought they develop positive attitudes about its using on the cognitive base. This study has ended the suggestion about school dictionaries.
