The analysis of the concept of nationalism for the examination of Ziya Gökalp and his understanding of nationalism constitutes the subject of our study. In short, to better understand Turkish nationalism over Ziya Gökalp's ideas, and to investigate the contribution of Gökalp's ideas to republican ideology, it also expresses the aims of this study. Ziya Gökalp is the idealist of Turkish nationalism with his work in intellectual field. At the same time, analyzing Gokalp's ideas and concepts related to Turkish nationalism is important in terms of Understanding the idea of nationalism that has been re-established even today. In a general sense, the examination of Ziya Gökalp's ideas and the expression of the basic assumptions of a nationalism conception based on his ideas are important for the understanding of the concept of nationalism. Following the examination of this subject in the light of these aims and importance, a better understanding of the concepts of nationality and nationalism, determination of what the idea of Turkish nationalism is, when and under what circumstances emerged, Ziya Gökalp's formation of the idea of nationalism and understanding of concepts which include this idea, evaluating theoretically be made better. At the same time, the effects of Gokalp's ideas on the Republic will be examined. The study is based mainly on literature research. At this point, the works of other thinkers in Ziya Gökalp's period, especially his own works, and the works of historical Studies examining the period and ideas of the period of Gökalp were studied. As a result, under the light of all this, a kind of "geneology" of Ziya Gökalp nationalism was introduced and Turkish nationalism was analyzed through Gökalp.
