Examination of the university adapting process of students from Turkic Republics; The example of Eskisehir

This study aimed to examine the adaptation process of students from Turkic Republics to university. The study was conducted using the screening model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The sampling method used was simple random sampling. The sample group of the study consisted of 379 students from Turkic Republics studying at 3 universities in Eskisehir province of Turkey: Eskisehir Anadolu University, Eskisehir Osmangazi University, and Eskisehir Technical University. The data were collected using the "University Adaptation Scale", the validity and reliability studies of which were conducted by Tuhanioğlu (2017). SPSS 30.0 package program, descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk normality, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used to analyze the data for variables such as gender, age, university, department, class, nationality, scholarship status, level of education, place of residence, level of education of parents, and duration of residence in Eskisehir. According to the research results, it was observed that the adaptation levels of students from Turkic Republics in terms of academic, social, personal-emotional and institutional adaptation were at the level of "generally adapting". It was revealed that there were significant differences in the adaptation levels of students in terms of variables such as gender, age, grade, nationality, level of education, and duration of living in Eskişehir. It was observed that there were no significant differences in terms of variables such as university, department, scholarship status, place of residence, and level of education of parents.
