Abstract (EN)
The concept of development, which was equivalent to economic growth until the Second World War, has turned into a people-oriented concept, especially after the war. The countries that was trying to emerge from the crises, restructured economically and entered the process of globalization have joined together that growth was not enough and thar every developing country did not experience development. Fort his reason, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) established a criterion for human development with health, education and income. The report, which is calculated for many countries since 1990 and publishes every year, emphasizes the importance of income in human development as well as the human factors in terms of quality of life. This study focusses on how to influence human development index the economic crisis in Turkey after 1990 and besides the most important components affecting human development in the country are emphasized. Estimates and comparisons about the change of the index number are made by making assumptions on human development components in the years following economic crises.
