The development of applications of psychosocial support in disaster and emergency in Turkey since 1999 Marmara Earthquake

Studies are carried out by many disciplines in order to prevent and reduce the effects of disasters and emergencies that affect life negatively and cause multi-faceted problems. The importance of the studies on psychosocial support was felt after the 1999 Marmara Earthquake. Psychosocial support was implanted in disaster and emergency situations in 1999 and beyond, but it was not possible to standardize the services provided due to the originality of disaster and emergency situations. In 2009, there was need to establish Disaster and Emergency Management Department (AFAD) and to evaluate the changes in the management of disaster management of disaster management and the psychosocial support applications. In this study, the concepts related to disaster and emergency situations and the scope of psychosocial intervention have been stated and the evaluation of psychosocial intervention studies since 1999 Marmara Earthquake has been made and suggestions have been made about psychosocial intervention studies.
