Abstract (EN)
The economic crises before 18th century were in the field of agriculture since industry had not developed yet. The decrease in production during the First World War and the excessive production and marketing problems after this war caused the economic crisis of 1929. The world economies encountered supply problems related to the increase in production from the Second World War to 1970s.After 1980, developing countries abandoned the development model of import substitution and accepted the model of financial liberalization with the aid of the IMF and World Bank. These countries which were implementing the market economy model without solving the micro and macro economic problems had economic crisis related to money, bank, stock market, and foreign exchange. The Domino crisis started in the years of 1994-95 in Mexico, the Asian Crisis started in the years of 1997-98 in Thailand, and Argentina crisis are some of the examples of such economic crisis. As a developing country, Turkey accepted the ?free market economy? with the stability decisions on January 24, 1980. However, as it was the case in Asian counties, continuing micro and macro economic difficulties and the problems caused by semi-fixed exchange policy based on the stability program led to the 1994, 2000, and 2001financial crisis in Turkey. It is true that economic crisis also affect social life. Tax income of governments decreases in during economic crisis since tax payers cannot pay their taxes and the number of tax payers decrease considerably because of bankruptcies. In this course, governments either decrease the ratio of some taxes or remove some of the taxes at all. This situation causes disturbances in public expenses and civil services such as education, health, transportation, and environmental sectors. During economic crisis, when government reduces public expenses because of the decrease in tax income, production declines, unemployment increases, the ratio of inflation rises, and the income of consumers declines. Especially, consumers in many countries had to meet the problems created by the Great Financial Depression of 1929.The main purpose of this study is to examine the economic crisis in Turkey after the year of 2000 in respect to household expenses and the subcategories of these expenses via the statistical method of consecutive variance analysis. As a result of this study, it was determined that there is a meaningful relationship between the economic crisis and household expenses in Turkey.
