The effects of economic policies implemented in Turkey after 2000 on its income distribution

In evaluating the welfare level of a country's economy, the income level of that country, the increase in the income level, and also the income distribution of the country are seen as important indicators. The fact that the distribution of income is not only an economic indicator, and that countries are leading to increase their level of welfare as a priority, makes the distribution of income distinct and requires the analysis of the factors affecting the distribution of income. With this study examining the applied economic policies in Turkey after 2000, it is aimed to show how these policies affect the country's economy, level of development and to evaluate its position among other countries by comparing them with other world countries. In the first part of the study, there are the basic concepts related to national income, and the concepts related to income distribution are included in the second part. In the third and final part, the economic policies applied in Turkey after 2000 also deal with the effects of these policies on the types of income distribution and the position of Turkey within the OECD countries. In this study, the survey of the previous studies related to the subject was determined as the interpretation of data published by Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) and OECD institutions. According to the results of the study, it is observed that the policies implemented in Turkey after 2000 cannot make a positive improvement in Turkey's income distribution. In fact, the policies applied in some years increase the inequality of income distribution. In this context, it is concluded that the problem of income distribution is not considered by policy makers as much as other macroeconomic problems.
