Abstract (EN)

Right to Information in Turkey: An Evaluation Through Sisli Municipality Information is one of the most important resources of our age. However, obtaining information is an indispensable right for every person living in society. The state has to be transparent in providing information to its citizens in order to ensure the legitimacy of the administration and to ensure the continuity of the correct management approach. With this situation, states have put the right to information in their constitutions. The development of the right to information in Turkey was formed at the beginning of the 21st century with the European Union harmonization process and continues to be developed until today. With the BEHK's entry into force in 2004, citizens have the right to request information from the administration on certain issues. In addition, it creates various platforms on the right to information in local governments. One of these platforms, "Neighbor Table", which was established in Şişli municipality on 09.09.2019, was included in the research. Our research firstly dealt with the concept of acquiring knowledge and its historical development. Then, he examined the issues such as the development and purpose, scope and limitations of the right to information in Turkey. Finally, he examined the information and transparency policy of Şişli municipality on the right to information in local governments and the platform called Neighbor Table created in Şişli Municipality.
