Differences in development policy analysis for the elimination of the regions in Turkey

The economic, social and cultural developmental level of regions differs from each other throughout the world. The level of these differences is higher in developing countries than in developed countries. In Turkey, in order to analyze the policies which destroy these differences growth `pole theory, export base theory, centrum periphery model, christaller?s zentral place theory? are used. By that way it is possible to have a better understanding of dynamics of regional development. Moreover, these theories play an important role in establishing the decentred policies.In Turkey?s five-year development plans, it is stated that the central plans and resources are not able to resolve development problems within the regions, more resources are allocated to metropolitan cities and the industry in cities like İstanbul, Kocaeli, Ankara and Adana is strengthened and expanded. While agricultural and industrial activities and services are taken place in Western parts of Turkey, the developmental differences are increased in Eastern parts of Turkey.
