Examination of therapy services for individuals with aphasia by speech and language therapists working in turkey

In this study, speech and language therapist in Turkey aimed to investigate the offered therapy services for the aphasic. For this purpose, it is aimed to examine the current practices and scope of application in the fields of assessment processes, cultural and linguistic adaptations, clinical approaches, counseling for cases, recovery processes, goal setting and termination of therapy of language and speech therapists. In this study, descriptive scanning design, which is one of the quantitative methods, was used. 250 Speech and Language Therapists who graduated from the field of Language and Speech Therapy and who are active in the field were included in the study. hospitals in Turkey in private clinics, private education and rehabilitation centers, university clinics working in speech and language therapists adapted to Turkish "Therapy Services Survey Towards Aphasia of Speech and Language Therapists individual" was applied via an online survey. According to the results obtained from the research, the evaluation and therapy sessions of Language and Speech Therapists for aphasic individuals last 30-45 minutes, individual intervention method is used for the aphasic individual, limited and insufficient resources are the factors that prevent the aphasia intervention from being effective, increasing the variety of materials and family in aphasia therapies. It has been found that providing the support of individuals will facilitate the therapy service offered. It was found that the main reason for the decision to terminate the therapy process in aphasic individuals was the inability of the aphasic individual to make progress and the low motivation and uncooperativeness of the aphasic individual.
