Abstract (EN)

Approaches of Endodontists and Dentists Working in Turkey to Bioceramic Materials Used in Endodontic Treatment: a Survey Study This study aimed to evaluate the frequency of use of bioceramic-based repair materials by dentists, endodontists, and specialist dentists in Turkey, the clinical situations in which these materials are preferred, and the level of proficiency in their application principles. Data was collected using an online survey. The survey included questions about the participants' demographic information, knowledge of bioceramic repair materials, and their usage habits. The collected data was statistically analyzed. There was no significant correlation between the duration of professional experience and knowledge or use of bioceramic repair materials. Dentists working in university hospitals demonstrated a higher level of knowledge about bioceramic repair materials and used these materials more frequently. Participants who followed scientific journals weekly or monthly had greater knowledge of bioceramic repair materials and used them more often. The tendency to use barrier materials before applying bioceramic repair materials in root perforations varied based on gender and frequency of scientific journal follow-up. The rate of condensation of bioceramic cements using plugger and ultrasonic was higher among university hospital employees and those who followed scientific journals weekly. The frequency of preferring bioceramic repair materials for resorption treatment, regenerative therapies, and retrograde fillings was higher among those who followed scientific journals weekly. Participants who followed scientific journals weekly were more likely to respond that new application methods with reduced technical sensitivity had been developed. Those who followed scientific journals monthly were more likely to respond that the material should be more affordable, compared to those who did not follow any scientific journals. The frequency of use of bioceramic repair materials by dentists in Turkey, and the clinical situations in which they are preferred, varies according to gender, the institution they work for, and the frequency of scientific journal follow-up. Access to education and scientific literature is a significant factor influencing the use of bioceramic repair materials. To promote the more effective and widespread use of bioceramic repair materials, it is recommended to develop educational programs and resources. Keywords: Turkey, Survey, Dentistry, Bioceramics
