Abstract (EN)

It is an undeniable fact that the visibility of women in the world of science has increased, but the number of women in Theology Faculties, which are religious science institutions, is quite low. Purpose of the research is; To understand why the number of female faculty members working in Theology Faculties is low, to determine whether there is a direct and clear inequality of opportunity while climbing the career ladder due to their gender, to reveal the problems. In this context, research was conducted with female faculty members working in the Faculty of Theology. In order to make the data to be obtained meaningful, quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together and it was designed as a mixed method research. The survey results of 62 female faculty members working in Theology Faculties in Turkey voluntarily participated in the research and in-depth interviews which were conducted with 5 female faculty members are analyzed. As a result of the research, it was seen that women struggled to exist in the public sphere. It is an important result of the study that it is not easy to overcome individual obstacles against being included in religious education institutions at a late period, headscarf, quota, and coefficient injustice.
