Türkiye'deki İngilizce öğretmenlerinin Covid-19 pandemi sürecindeki acil uzaktan eğitimle ilgili görüşleri

The purpose of this study is to get the opinions of English teachers in Turkey about emergency remote teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic process. In this context, a total 396 participants from every region of the country were reached and a questionnaire about emergency remote teaching was directed to them. IBM SPSS 25.0 and IBM SPSS AMOS 24.0 programs were used in the analysis of the data obtained from the research. Descriptive statistics methods were used in the data collected from the participants in the study. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to the questionnaire in order to determine the sub-dimensions of the Perception Scale for Distance Education. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used to determine the reliability of the questionnaire, in which factor analysis was applied. Confirmatory factor analysis was applied in IBM SPSS AMOS program to determine the validity and goodness of fit of the sub-dimensions obtained as a result of factor analysis. In the analysis of the differences in the perceptions of distance education of individuals according to their socio-demographic characteristics, independent sample t-test was used for the difference between the two groups. When there were more than two groups, the One Way Anova test was used to compare the parameters among groups. After analyzing and examining all the findings, results were obtained regarding the gender, age, term of duty, region of duty, institution they work for and the type of Internet access. In addition, the questionnaire items were handled one by one and the opinions of English teachers about distance education were analyzed. All these findings revealed that the participants had a negative attitude towards distance education and thought that there were points need to be improved. The findings of the study were examined and theoretical and pedagogical implications were offered to the MoNE, teachers and parents.
