Abstract (EN)

The success of an educational system can be determined by the facilities offered during an education process and the qualifications obtained afterwards. In this context, it is been observed that the comparison of Turkish university performances can be generally done according to output based performance indicators like academician performances, nationwide exam results and the unemployment rate of the graduates. KPSS exam is an accepted output used as a comparison element. However, pedagogues give importance to conversion of the offered facilities into outputs productively in the performance evaluation of an educational system. In this study, 18 statistics department of Turkish universities which have accessible data have been considered as decision making units and their relative efficiencies have been calculated with the help of data envelopment analysis. The relations between the efficiency values and the input-output variables, the significance of the efficiency differences of the different programs and the effects of nondiscretionary inputs on efficiency differences have been investigated and set. It is hoped that the obtained results of the study may help to the decision makers and the prospective statistics students.
