Abstract (EN)
This study examines the current context of Syrian artists in Turkey, their identity building process and changes on their art during the integration process. Syrian artist and other Syrian citizens have migrated using same channels and the reason behind the immigration was same for all. However, Syrian artist were the representative of their culture and they had the responsibility of cultural transformation and adaptation. In this study, relationship between art, artist and social structure have been clarified abstractively. Thereafter, rebuilding of individual and social identity of Syrian artists, which is rebuilding despite the social structure in Turkey and bias of Turkish community against Syrians, will be evaluated. The changes experienced by the Syrian artist after migration process and the effect of these changes on their arts have been examined based on the relations between cultural identity and adaptation.
