Abstract (EN)

German Maritime Arbitration Association arbitration rules are one of the most commonly used rules for resolution of maritime disputes by arbitration. Therefore, subjects of this study are firstly dispute resolution in accordance with German Maritime Arbitration Association rules and secondly arguments regarding a possible maritime arbitration tribunal that might be established in Turkey. After studying aforementioned issues it is concluded that; arbitration rules of German Maritime Arbitration Association are (except a few rules) suitable for a possible maritime arbitration tribunal that can be established in Turkey and these rules can be the base of the future maritime arbitration tribunal's rules. It is also concluded that the establishment of a maritime arbitral tribunal is actually necessary according to legal statistics and that it would be convenient if aforementioned tribunal is established within a maritime dispute resolution centre, which would be within the body of Chamber of Shipping. According to the conclusion of this study, rendering of other dispute resolution services by Chamber of Shippinng would contribute to shipping community as well.
