Abstract (EN)

In recent years, Türkiye has undergone a significant transformation with the rise of digital platforms. The widespread access to the internet, rapid technological advancements, and changing consumer habits have profoundly influenced the Turkish media sector, accelerating the emergence and development of digital platforms. With the proliferation of internet access, Turkish consumers have gained the opportunity to access online content in addition to traditional media channels such as television and radio. During this period, video sharing platforms and online streaming sites for series (dizis) have gained popularity. The emergence of local productions among Türkiye 's digital platforms has further fueled their growth. Application-based video services have gained momentum, particularly with local film and series producers venturing into content creation for digital platforms. These platforms have begun to establish their own audience base by offering Turkish viewers original and local content. International digital platforms have played a significant role in the development of digital platforms in Türkiye. Global platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus have actively engaged in the Turkish market, increasing local competition. The rise of digital platforms is reshaping the content production dynamics in the Turkish media sector. It is also influencing the media consumption habits of Turkish viewers, who are increasingly turning to digital platforms for their ability to access desired content anytime and experience personalized viewing experiences. The emergence and development of digital platforms in Türkiye have brought about a profound change in the media sector. These platforms, empowered by the internet, are expanding audience reach and offering new opportunities for content creators. The Turkish media sector is preparing for the future amidst this dynamic transformation driven by digitization. With digitization, public broadcasting digital platforms worldwide are developing unique strategies in cultural interaction and national identity matters. Countries like the UK, Australia, the United States, Japan, and France have extended their public broadcasting to digital platforms, expanding their broadcasts. The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) has adapted to the era of digitization by creating its digital platform. TRT Tabii aims to reach audiences both through traditional media and digitally, thus contributing to the public dimension of digitization in Türkiye. Based on this, this study aims to analyze the digital platforms in Türkiye and the position of TRT Tabii among them. Additionally, the study seeks to uncover the position of TRT Tabii's digital platform among other public broadcasting digital platforms with historical backgrounds, such as those in the UK, Australia, Japan, and France, through a literature review method.
