Abstract (EN)

It has been very important for the individuals to be able to access and share information about the economy since the early ages. Today, the economic press, which meets the information needs of the individuals about the economy, plays an important role in liberal communities in this aspect. In the Western Community, with geographical discoveries, the first examples of economy press in the modern sense emerged, and in time, it has become a very important position among the press types. In our country, the neoliberal policies that emerged after the 1980s increased the need for information about the economy in the society and the economic press developed rapidly after this period. The increasing monopoly tendency and profit orientation as a result of neo-liberal politics after 1980, also felt itself in the news discourse of the economic press which was the shining star of this period. In this study, which deals with the publications of Para and Ekonomist magazines, which are two weekly economy magazine publications with the highest circulation in Turkey, the economic political structure of economy magazines is analyzed via Teun Van Dijk's analysis of discourse. As a result of the research, it has been seen that economic magazines, which are the main functions of the economy magazines, provide the public with accurate and neutral information about the economic issues, but their contents are shaped according to the economic and political interests of the media groups and they are affiliated with, remaking the sovereign discourse and direct the people to consume and organize news texts in this direction.
