The views of artist, expert viewers and art gallery dealers on the place and importance of comtemporary art in Turkey

In this research, the improvement of Turkish art that is between 1890 and 2008 has been studied in an abstract framework .In the first section, the occurrence and modernization progress of art that represents west in Turkey has been investigated. In the second section, It has been stated that the importance and place of contemporary art in Turkey, which shows a parallel progress with the World art, the views of artists who deal with this kind of art, of art gallery dealers and contemporary art followers.The aim of this research is to be able to determine the requirement of contemporary art?s perception size and usage in art environments with contemporary art practices in Turkey by associating with Turkish cultural and economic structure .What contemporary art is, contemporary art practices in Turkey ,contemporary art problems have been emphasised at the level of reciever of art work.In the second section of this research, the model of this research, participants, the progress of collecting data, the analysis and interpretation of data takes part. In the research, the qualitative investigation methods have been used.In this research, it has been given a place to the opinions of Vahit TUNA, Gülçin AKSOY with their successful works in contemporary art in Turkey, of Daryo BESKİNAZİ, Arza TÜZÜNOĞLU as an art receiver, of Sevil DOLMACI and Vasıf KORTUN as an expert audience. Also, The content of this study has been supported according to the aim of this research by doing quotations from speeches and essays of artists influential in contemporary art, of curator and art critics, too.In this research, the semi-structured interview questions prepared in the direction of the problem of this research have been used. It has been benefited from the analysis of the content while the analysis of data is being done. Discoveries that are defined in this research have been interpreted by investigator. It has not been quoted from the opinions of participants directly while discoveries are being interpreted.As a result; because of contemporary art?s structure, feeding mostly from postmodern, today?s society, Its uniqueness as in traditional art, being independent from a certain material, benefiting from technology, being unconcerned about stylistic anxities has resulted dominant differences between it and traditional art. Since 1990?s, The concept of contemporary art has properly become widespread and it has enabled Turkish artists to be famous worldwide with lifesytle and perception of art that is brought through globalization.Key Words: Contemporary, Art, Postmodernizm, Gallery, Curator.
