An analysis on the development of publishing sector of the women magazines in Turkey in terms of globalization

In this study, historical development of publishing sector of the women magazines in Turkey which is under the influence of globalization is discussed. Our analysis which has a start at Tanzimat period contains the current status and the periods before and after globalization. The transformation in the publishing sector of women magazines in Turkey is presented on a comparative basis in reference to the periods before and after 1990?s. In the first chapter the concept of globalization having a start of 1990?s for which the basic effects are considered is presented. In this chapter historical development of publishing sector on the world and in Turkey and the transformation in the publishing sector occurred under the influence of globalization and the change in the magazines directing towards a variety of different targeting audience and digital publishing sector in the content of the available data are discussed. In the second chapter the extent of the transformation occurred in Turkey in terms of women magazines are taken into account. The current status of women magazines in Turkey is reflected through the constructed tables and graphical representations of the collected data regarding the media groups, numerical information available via web pages and the analysis of our study. In the third chapter the current status of the women magazines? publishing sector of Turkey which is under the effect of globalization is presented in terms of the governing role and share of global media groups over those of national ones in reference to our analysis .
