Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the relationship between Carbon dioxide emission, Economic Growth and Energy demand for Turkey is analysed based on Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis approach. The analysis covers the period 1970-2013 and uses annual data obtained from World Bank for Carbon dioxide emission, GDP per capita and Energy consumption variables. As a first step, the ADF unit root test, PP unit root test, KPSS stationarity test and Lee – Strazicich unit root test with two structural breaks are applied in the analysis. It is concluded that the variables are stationary with two structural breaks in their constant and trend. For cointegration relationship between the variables, the Bounds test is applied. The results show that Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis is not valid for Turkey.
