Determination of student attitudes towards the teaching of economics in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the educational part of economics is evaluated from student perspectives. Approximately 200 thousand students are currnetly studying economics in Turkey. The fact that the department of economics has such a high number of students causes that department graduated face difficulties in employment after graduation. In such an environment, it has gained importance to identify the problems experienced in economic education from the point of view of students who are the main subjects of economic education. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the attitudes of undergraduate students towards economics education and to reveal the disruptive aspects of economics education from the students' point of view.The research was performed in the economics department of Hacettepe University, which is accepted by the society and is popular with students, Pamukkale University which is popular among students, although its foundation date is not very old and Aksaray University which is newly established. In this context, a sample of 578 students was selected from the economics students of the universities that were the subject of the research and data were collected from the selected sample. The collected data were analyzed by independent sample t-test in SPSS 23 package program and one-way variance test. As a result of the analyzes, attitudes differences were found between genders, age groups and schools.
