The resource problem of the district municipalities in Turkey, Demirci Municipality as an example

The important part of public reforms applied in many countries in the world is related to the arrangements in local administration. In our country, in the process of adaptation to EU, there are some changes in the reform quality. Some of them are fundamental laws related to local administrations in the framework of these changes, these laws are to make local administration efficient; and their field of duty is widened. As a result of these changes, it is aimed to make these local administrations, both in the form of city and region, a unit to provide development. For the local administration reform which is planed to be realized to be successful, it should be supported by sufficient economic resources which is agreed by everyone. The municipalities forming an important part of local administration should increase their economic recourses to fulfill their growing duty and service compared to the past and also it is getting more and more important to control whether they use their resources productively or not. In this study in which I try to inspect the resource problem of municipalities, especially district municipalities in our country the share of duty and the share of resource between the central administrations and local administrations is explained generally in the first chapter, in the second chapter the economic resources of municipalities are inspected from different aspects, in the third chapterthe economic resources of Demirci Municipality is investigated with the help of comparative tables and its economic structure is interpreted compared to the other municipalities.
