Investigation of factors affecting women voters' voting decision in terms of political marketing in turkey's rural areas and a research in Giresun province

Voting is the most fundamental fact of political participation. The voting tendencies, which are a constitutional right and also a responsibility, and the factors that affect this tendency differ in terms of women residing in rural areas. Considering the scope of the importance of political participation of women living in rural areas in terms of developing countries such as Turkey, the aim of this study is to analyze how women's voting decision differs according to party related issues, the effect of environment and the existence of policies for women and women at the party. A total of 391 women living in rural areas in Giresun province participated in the survey that is prepared within the scope of the research. IBM SPSS 22 Statistical Analysis Program is used to analyze the data. Results illustrate that the effect of relatives in voting preference differs according to the educational status, age and marital status of women, the effect of party opinion and ideology differs according to age and income status and political marketing practices differs according to age and social security of women. We argue that the results of this study will provide significant insight for policy makers in policies related to increase voting rate in rural areas and for political party managers in strategies that will affect the voting preferences of women living in rural areas.
