Abstract (EN)
The first traces of arabesque music in Turkey were encountered in the second half of the 1960s, and over the years it has transcended its musicological dimension and become a phenomenon affecting almost every aspect of the social structure. Arabesque music has been constantly interpreted and explained by social actors within this circle of transformation. Accordingly, a multifaceted and comprehensive discussion on questions such as what arabesque is, what it represents and its fate has begun. As a result, the lack of a common consensus on the existence of this music has caused different fields to deal with this music as a subject of discussion until today. Of course, Arabesque music is not limited to the above-mentioned situation. Likewise, the fact that this music continues to change and transform by articulating with other music genres is just one of the situations that facilitate its inclusion in the current literature. Therefore, the assumption on which this study is based is that arabesque music has gained a gentrification as a result of certain transformations. For this reason, the study attempts to analyse the historical adventure of arabesque music in Turkey through a discussion narrative by including different views on arabesque music. Likewise, it is thought that the aforementioned discussions on arabesque music will be of great benefit in terms of grounding the assumption of the study and ultimately the process of gentrification of arabesque will be clearly seen. While conducting the study, qualitative research methods were used, literature and archive review were conducted.
