Effects of corporate social responsibility practices to business' corporate reputation in Turkey: A survey on the perception of business managers

Abstract (EN)

Corporate social responsibility is an approach that pay attention to the importance of human values beyond economic values, where businesses consider community expectations on the basis of volunteerism and also take into account not only investors but also stakeholders such as the social and physical environment, consumers, suppliers, intermediaries and the state. Corporate reputation is the sum of the perceptions which arise as a result of stakeholders' communication and interaction with the business and reflecting stakeholders' feelings that emerge overtime about business by comparison with business' competitors to explain the general condition of the organization The effects of corporate social responsibility implementations to the corporate reputation: the perception of business executives is the main subject of this study. In this content, the impacts of businesses' CSR applications intended for environment, consumers, employees and society are examined. Concepts related to CSR, classification of CSR activities, benefits to be provided with CSR activities to business and stakeholders, CSR areas, CSR dimensions, CSR's tools and standards, models that explain the relationship between CSR and corporate reputation are subjects to discussed. The survey was conducted by e-mail to the enterprises that have the highest competitiveness and within the top 10 exporting sectors which are collected in five groups (manufacturing and sales of food product, textile, garment and leather goods manufacturing and sales, mining and quarry, main metal metal products, machine, automotive and other transportation vehicles manufacturing and sales, furniture manufacturing and sales) and additionally six sectors with services. The survey was conducted across Turkey with the participation of carrying the founder, general manager or district manager, human resources manager, accounting and finance manager or other executive titles. As a result of the study, it was determined that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between corporate social responsibility applications and corporate reputations of businesses according to founders and managers.
