Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, political authorities have been concerned with the possibility of people expressing their opinions freely in various channels and disseminating the information they have obtained as they wish, and they have tried to limit the freedom of the press, sometimes with vague expressions of legal measures, and sometimes with technological means of the time. Thus, the power that holds the knowledge itself and its methods of production has also acquired the power of knowledge. Considering that the media is one of the most basic information production medium, the importance of censorship in terms of repressive powers emerges. In this context, both the news published in North Korean media and in the media of Turkey which is referred as a country with freedom of the press was investigated within the scope of this study. In this way, the impact the phenomenon of censorship in Turkey and North Korea on media texts and publication policies are analyzed comparatively and the effect in question is presented.
