Advantages and disadvantages that Turkey has in the process of accession to the EU

The main purpose of this research is to explain the advantages and the disadvantages that Turkey holds during its accession period to the European Union. The experiences and what has happened since the first admission of Turkey to the European Union have been explained. The advantages which Turkey will provide for the European Union in case of its joining to the EU have been expressed. The research makes reference to the issues that the European Union regards as obstacles and how they can be resolved. The method used in the research is literature review. The result of this study is that Turkey has certain aspects that may be advantageous for the EU. It also shows that Turkey continues its efforts with in the context of European Union's acquis and that resolution is possible for some of the issues that have been put forward as obstacles by the European Union.
