Türkiye'nin deniz dip tarama malzemelerinin peyzaj düzenlemesinde faydalı kullanımının kimyasal bir yaklaşımla incelenmesi: İyileştirilmiş yüzey toprağı örneği

The purpose of this work is to investigate the usability of marine dredged materials (DMs) in our country as manufactured topsoil (MT) in the landscaping applications in terms of technical, environmental and economical aspect and to provide the generalization of limited number of beneficial use alternatives conducted on the national base. Within the context of the characterization of DMs were investigated. The analysis results were compared pursuant to "Waste Management Regulation (AYY) App. 3B" and "Regulation on the Landfilling of Waste (ADDDY)-App. 2" limit values. Besides, DMs were assessed pursuant to "Regulation on Use of Domestic and Urban Treatment Sludge in Soil (EKAÇTKY)-App. IIB". Laboratory-scale studies on DM samples were carried out for the utilization of DMs as MT in landscaping works. MT samples were prepared in three different ratios (33%, 50% and 67%) with improved DM, peat and manure. Grass growth performances were followed during six months period by planting lawn seeds into the related topsoil samples at first. The results showed that improved DMs can be beneficially used as MT in municipality's landscaping applications without any adverse effects to the environment. Then, outdoor ornamental plants were also planted into MT samples However, it is seen that MTs prepared by DMs are technically not feasible for growing outdoor ornamental plants due to their physico-chemical structures. As a part of laboratory-scale washing-sieving experiments of DMs, characterization and management of DM's washing were performed. Besides, design of "DM pre-treatment plant" were made theoretically. Finally, cost analysis of each management options of DM was conducted.
