Abstract (EN)
The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the tornado events that have occurred in Turkey; to conduct geographical, temporal and spatial analyses and to examine their relationship with high atmospheric conditions. According to this aim, the thesis study is prepared as three sections. In the first part, general information about tornadoes was tried to be given by using various sources and their formation mechanisms, intensity scales and types were explained. In the second part; geographical, temporal and spatial analyses of tornado events taking place throughout Turkey were examined. Data sets from two different sources were combined and tornado events were divided into various parameters. Then, their distribution according to geographical regions, severity, types, direction of progress and temporal distribution on annual, monthly, hourly basis were analyzed. In the third part, average and anomaly maps were prepared using various atmospheric parameters like geopotential height, sea level pressure, specific moisture, wind shear for each geographical region. Their values were compared and the status of high atmospheric conditions was examined.
